Australia’s best boxers on show at Super 8 Series in Adelaide
Star Olympic and Commonwealth Games boxers will converge on Adelaide for three days of fast and furious boxing, starting on Friday 17 August 2018.
The Super 8 Series will see South Australia’s Scorpions face off against Western Australia’s Patriots, New South Wales Headbangers and Queensland’s Cyclones in an exciting brand of boxing.
Athletes accrue points in 3 x 3 minute round fights, and the boxer with the most points at the end of the competition will be awarded the championship belt in their category.
The perpetual trophy will be awarded to the team with the most total points at the conclusion of the final tournament in Sydney, in October.
“The Super 8 Series brings a thrilling dynamic to boxing, and is proving very popular with both athletes and fans,” Boxing SA Coaching Coordinator Phillip Goodes said.
“Australia’s best boxers are all coming to town for this big event, so we can expect an elite level of boxing and a great spectacle.”
2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallists Harry Garside and Anja Stridsman will be the boxers to beat at the event, along with bronze medallist Kaye Scott.
South Australia’s Terry Nickolas will be hoping to impress in front of his home crowd.
